Stay Healthy

What’s our mission?

Here at Healthy Seshing we enjoy the little green plant just as much as you do, but we do not look away at the negative impacts smoking weed has on your body and brain

There’s several ways your preferred method of smoking may harm your body in places such your throat, brain and of course lungs. For example, if you use a dirty bong as your main smoking device then your chances of developing pneumonia severely increases since moldy bacteria is being inhaled to your lungs. Another concern is smoking joints without filters increases the amount of carcinogens and tar that reach your lungs and will irritate your bronchial tubes.

If you want to enjoy the great benefits of marijuana but want to limit the negative impacts it has on your life then this is the place for you! We share tips on how to enjoy your sesh and reduce the harm it does.

Take your vitamins!

Healthy Seshing || What Vitamins/ Supplements Do You Need

Getting high has been known to cause negative effects on your brain like memory loss (due to shrinkage of your hippocampus.) However if you’re like me and do not want to lay off the grass then you should consider buying vitamins or supplements that combat the impact weed has on your body and brain.

The first vitamin you should be getting plenty of is Omega-3 Fatty acids. This can be found in fish, fish oils and krill oil. Omega-3 helps your brain generate new neurons and can grow your hippocampus. Apart from healing your brain, it also reduces chances of heart disease, anxiety and depression. This is the first vitamin I recommend since it improves your brain health, heart

health and overall mood. You can buy Omega-3 in capsule or oil form.

The second Vitamin I recommend taking is B12. There is a direct relationship between a deficiency of B-12 and memory loss, anxiety and fatigueness. B-12 promotes the circulation of oxygen through-out our cells and produces ideal red blood cells. When your body lacks B12 then your blood has a harder time reaching all the organs and explains why you may like it’s hard to keep up with a conversation or you may just feel fatigue all the time. This vitamin fights brain atrophy and promotes neuron growth. This works exceptionally well when paired up with Omega-3 and taken consistently.

The last vitamin I recommend is Ginkgo Biloba which is known for its antioxidant content and slows down the aging of organs. LIke the other vitamins I mentioned, Ginkgo Biloba improves circulation and heart health. Gingko protects the brain, heart and fights strokes and has been used to treat symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive declines due to aging.

Basically these 3 vitamins will give your brain the nutrients it needs to generate new neurons and gives it the proper circulation to do so. It is important to remember that proper diet and exercise will also GREATLY improve your brain and cognitive health as it helps your blood flow through-out your body.

I recommend finding out which vitamins and nutrients you are deficient in to see what vitamins best suit your needs! However Omega-3, B-12 and Ginkgo Biloba will all improve your brain’s cognitive health, improve memory and keep your heart healthy.

Ever Wonder Why You Have Memory Issues?

How Marjiuana Affects your Memory & How to Improve It

I am sure you have heard the fact that people who smoke often, have troubles with their short-term memory, and while this is true there are many other factors that may contribute to your memory troubles.

So why does our memory fail us sometimes? The answer is in your Hippocampus. The hippocampus is a region of your brain responsible for storing new memories and also contributes to how you learn. Smoking pot frequently may shrink your hippocampus and could be the reason why you struggle with short term memory. However it’s important to consider other factors such as exercise, diet, sleep and social life. ALL of these play a role in a healthy brain. When I noticed a change in my memory retention I automatically assigned the blame to how much I smoke, however I simply began exercising and I noticed my memory improving – and I didnt change my smoking habits. I noticed myself being able to focus better and thus retain new information better. My short-term memory is still spotty but MUCH improved, I believe once I fix my poor sleeping and eating habits, I will have the memory retention I desire.

It is important to evaluate ALL of these aspects of your life. Even your social life may affect your memory. Isolation has been proven to have a negative impact on your body and mind and could be a reason as to why you do not feel yourself. Make an effort to be more social if this is the case, something as simple as having lunch with a friend can do the trick. Proper nutrition plays a huge role in your memory as well. I’ll be honest I’m guilty of not having the best nutrition out there, however I try to balance out my poor diet with carefully picked vitamins and supplements.

Your Hippocampus is not solely affected by smoking pot though. Anxiety, depression, an addiction or neurodegenerative diseases can all shrink your hippocampus. No need to stress though, through proper sleep, nutrition, exercise your hippocampus will begin to heal itself and start to create new neurons. Just start with fixing one aspect of your life, do it consistently and you will be able to feel the benefits within days. What if you chose a healthy snack to munch on, or decided to start working out. My mornings consist of waking up, working out, smoking and making a tasty protein shake with the vitamins and calories I need for the day. I can confidently say my memory has improved significantly even though I still smoke daily.

Cleaning your Bong || Make It a Habit

Taking a hit out of a bong is one of my favourite ways to smoke my ganja and has been since I first started smoking but I’ve long stopped using dirty bongs with water that hasn’t been changed in weeks.

Personally I love bongs, they filter out the ash from the smoke, the water cools the smoke down and best of all it gives you a great high. However it’s important to keep your bong clean in order to enjoy these benefits. After realizing how harmful it is to use the same dirty water day after day and leaving all the resin in the bong, I made the effort to change the water every day and clean the bong at least 2 times a week, and let me tell you it makes a big difference.

For one, it just feels smoother. If you’ve ever taken a toke from a dirty bong I’m sure you can remember the foul smell and the bitter taste. It smells bad for a reason, and that is because of all the bacteria and fungi around the bong. I know that doesn’t stop some people (talking to you college students) I was once that person that didnt care what the bong looked like but eventually once I noticed physical changes such as pain and shortness of breath I changed my ways.

This is not what you want filtering your smoke. My friend had a bong that we used during our seshs for 4 or 5 of us. You can imagine how quickly it got dirty and he never changed the water. Eventually after weeks of using that dirty bong, he was prescribed an inhaler because he had developed chronic pneumonia. Fortunately, it was only temporary but still goes to show the dangers of using a dirty bong.

I know it can be tedious to clean your bong when it gets dirty, especially if you’re a frequent smoker. Luckily there’s services such as Dank B Gone that do the cleaning for you. They specialize in cleaning bongs, pipes, water pipes, bubblers etc… If you can smoke out of it, they will clean it.

What is great about this service is that they are mobile! They will come to you, clean your bong and hand it back to you sparkling clean. What a time to be alive.

Cleaning your bong frequently is definitely worth alone for your health but it’s also a great benefit not having to smell 3 week old resin in the bong you are about to use.
